LOST in the World

LOST in the World :

LOST! If you’re not addicted to this show, you need to check your pulse. I know there are all these theories circulating the internet as to what this show is about. I’m going to offer you my theory – it’s a metaphor for life – your personal and professional life!

Your airplane just crashed on a mysterious island and you’re scared. Sure you’ve survived an plane crash but the real question is are you going to be a survivor on the island? Are you going to be in the camp of Locke – a man of faith or Jack, a man of science?

Are you going to be an “extra” on the island, scared to take control of your life, your destiny or are you going to go out and find food for yourself? Are you going to sit and wait to be rescued or are you going to build a raft to get off the island? Are you going to hide in the cave and let others help you or are you going to be in control of your destiny?

You are for the most part stuck on this island called your life. It is your choice what you choose to do on this island – make the best of it and do everything you can in your power to survive or rely on others, the leaders to tell you what to do. You can sit around and work for somebody your entire life or take control of your destiny and be your own leader.

Are you going to be Locke? You see a challenge in front of you (the hatch) and in single-mindedness you try to open that hatch. If smashing it open with a trebuchet , doesn’t work are you going to give up or are you going to find a different way to open that hatch?

Do you reinvent yourself on the island? Realizing that life is all about second chances do you let your demons chase you or do you discard them and become a new person on the island? Do you walk after being in a wheelchair?

Are you going to be Jack? Letting your past affect all your decisions? Not accepting the chaos, the beauty, the magic of life unless there is hard scientific evidence to support the truth. Do you look at the world as a series of randomness and chaos.

Are you a man of science or a man of faith? When you are constantly hearing no and rejections do you empirically assume all is lost or are you a man of faith, confident in your destiny and knowledge that there are challenges in this world and you must face them.

How do you look at obstacles, adversity in your life? The island “life” is always testing you, there are some who see a grand pattern, others who see chaos, some who go out there, explore, those who never leave the cave, those that sit on the beach all day waiting for rescue. “The Others” are always around, there are an endless supply of mysteries, “monsters” out there. Are you afraid of that mystery or do you run and embrace it?

Are you LOST on the island of life or have you FOUND your place?
